Client Interview: Miss E

Miss E did her session as a complete surprise to her husband. She is giving her husband the album for a Christmas gift, so I may just have to do a follow-up interview and see what he thought of the best Christmas gift ever.

Anyway, until then, I chatted a bit with this sensual woman to see what she thought about her boudoir photo shoot experience with me.

How long have you been waiting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I had been contemplating about doing a boudoir shoot for about 2 or 3 years, looking on Pinterest and other sites for inspiration. This summer I finally decided to do it and started researching online for local photographers and found Shannon Hemauer Photography.

What made you decide I was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session?
While browsing through about 3 or 4 local photographer websites, I found that Shannon’s website stuck out the most. From how the site was set up, and to all the information and galleries that were provided helped in my decision to contact Shannon. Also one other thing that stood out for me was the fact that she was the only photographer that concentrated on boudoir and was not like the other sites I had been looking at where the photographers didn’t concentrate on one thing, they also did weddings, families, etc…

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
My favorite part of the experience is a tie between the actual shoot and the reveal. I was definitely taken out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. I went all in and didn’t look back. Shannon made me feel comfortable and so it all happened naturally. The reveal was equally as exciting b/c then I was able to see the end result of our hard work and I loved how the pics came out.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
What I liked most was that because of the makeup artist Nath [Mao] and the hairstylist Natalie McKee, I still looked like myself, just an enhanced version. With that said, when I saw the 1st image, I thought wow, I look great and I’m glad I still look like myself, I can’t wait to see the rest.

How did shooting this session with me change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
The session helped me to break through my comfort zone. I actually do feel more confident about my body and see that I really don’t look as bad as my mind likes to tell me. I can now accept when my husband tells me he loves my body.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
I wasn’t really surprised about how much fun I had, I had a feeling that it was going to be great before I even did it and it was.

Why should other women do a boudoir or glamour session with me?
One thing you have going for you over other local photographers is that boudoir is your specialty and you were trained on how to properly pose people so the pics come out well and our unflattering areas aren’t captured. You work with us and work around what we are and aren’t comfortable with. You helped me with ideas on outfits and accessories and even provided some accessories of your own.
