Morgan did a boudoir session years ago, in her younger days before she became a mother, so she was rather comfortable with the planning process for her session with me. What neither of us expected is how vintage her boudoir look would turn out—such a pleasant surprise and perfect for her!

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I have done boudoir before in college but before becoming a mom, so I figured I needed something grown up and more elegant, and because I had recently lost a little weight.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
Shannon’s professionalism and her body of work. I loved the idea of her process and how she works with a team to accomplish everything.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
The session was quite fun! I love getting my makeup and hair done and trying on different outfits!

Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
I always wear makeup and make sure my hair is done wherever I go so I wasn’t too worried although it is a bit more dramatic than I would normally have done.

Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
I mean the poses aren’t something you do on a normal basis. It isn’t like lounging around the house or in bed or at work. But I knew that they would translate well and make my body look flattering.

What were you more nervous about—the session or the reveal?
I was nervous about the reveal!

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
Yes. I wasn’t sure if they’d be what I was picturing of myself. But they were even better than I could imagine!

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I was amazed! It was beautiful!

If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
I loved what I saw. Loved all of it!

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
I feel so glamorous now and it was a real confidence booster.

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If I get a photo taken where I wasn’t planning on having one then I feel real blah. But now after learning a few tricks from Shannon and seeing the results, I do feel photogenic.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
Whether or not their vision matched mine.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Reading through Shannon’s blog I just knew I’d have fun!
