Before I share with you Jess’s client interview regarding her boudoir session, I want to show you why I say posing is so powerful:
In the first image, I had Jess stand as she normally would for an image, then in the second image, I posed her…chin out and down, create a faux waist with hand placement, and arms away from the body. BOOM! Instant figure! Hello chin!
Love it!
So Jess did her boudoir session after she lost 40 pounds! She and her husband changed the way they eat—eating cleaner, with less processed foods in their diets. I’m hoping when Jess gets to her goal weight, she’ll come back and to another session to celebrate her success!
Below is her client interview—please read over her answers, and if you find you can relate to what she’s saying, then please contact me to schedule your phone consult.
How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I have thought about this for a few years. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
In looking at Shannon’s portfolio and the reviews she received, there was no doubt that she was the way to go!What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
The session was so laid back, and no one ever made me feel embarrassed or dumb that I was doing this.Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
Just a little bit. Once I walked outside in the sun, I saw how the lighting changed and softened my makeup, so I was ok with it. I thought it was pretty cool that Nath showed off my gray streak of hair!Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
Not really. I took into account that Shannon and her team knew what they were doing and went with it. I’m a nurse, so I am clueless about photography! What were you more nervous about—the session or the reveal?
The reveal! Up until recently, I didn’t like how I looked in any [professional] picture that was taken of me since my wedding.Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
Definitely! But I knew that Shannon wouldn’t steer me wrong. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I thought “That cannot be me!!”! I really looked beautiful! If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Loved and then some! How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Before this session, I felt pretty good about the fact that I had lost 40 pounds, I was feeling good, looking better, etc. Shannon brought out the confidence in me that everyone else knew I have, and that I had to see for myself. Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
OH goodness no! I thought that my [past] pictures were frumpy and fake (Snapchat filters were my friends). I feel that I can “chin out and down” wherever I go for a picture, and be proud of what is taken! Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
None really. I just knew that I had to pick one that I “bonded” with and could trust. Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Absolutely! I shocked myself at how excited I was rather than nervous. Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
To let yourself see what others already do! You have nothing to lose and SO MUCH to gain!
A big thank you to my lead stylist, Nath Kreider, for doing a great job on Jess’ hair/makeup, and of course to my assistant, Dianna, for being awesome.
Until next time,
Shannon
