Betty is one of those people who just make me giggle when they enter the room. Her smile is infectious and she is so quick to laugh!

And you should have seen us laughing when I was trying to figure out how to photograph her with her boyfriend’s golf balls and club! I mean, HOW in the world does one do this for a boudoir session without making the images appear raunchy?

Well, just like I’ve done with the donut session, and hunting bow,  and other ordinary objects like books and guitars, I was able to make it work! Scroll down to see Betty with some balls in her hand!

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I have wanted to do a session for about 2-3 years. I was introduced to this type of photography from a show I used to watch, “Married at First Sight,”  where a participant did one of these photo sessions and I thought the idea was a very good idea. I did google on this type of photography close to my area at that time and the closest one was in Delaware. I never took it further until I joined FB in May 2018 (Finally—LOO) and happen to see Shannon’s post/advertisement.  Then I knew it was a ‘sign’ and something that I needed to act on now.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
The reviews I read and I also liked the presentation of her marketing. It made me feel at ease knowing she is a woman-owned, veteran-owned, working mom.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
Honestly, it was all a positive and fun experience but if I think the actual session was my favorite. I felt like a princess for just a couple of hours.

Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
No, I did not worry about my hair or makeup when I left—I actually wanted to go do something and show strangers the ‘new’ me.  But I did not until later that evening when I met my neighbors for the first time and we all went out to dinner. I had washed some off my face but had not touched my eye makeup and I felt pretty damn good.  😉

Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
No, not at all because you had told me it would feel awkward and I had complete confidence and trust in you.

What were you more nervous about–the session or the reveal?
I was more nervous about the session, or maybe that was exciting. Not sure but the reveal, I was pretty calm and comfortable, again complete confidence in Shannon.

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
No.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
‘OMG, that is NOT me! WOW!’ I wanted to cry because I do not see myself like that normally. I thought, ‘Man, I still ‘got it!’ It sparked a bit of confidence in me that has been so lost and forgotten. Empowerment.

If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
There was no worry or concern. Yes, I loved what I saw in my portraits.

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
The session was fun and I did not focus on my negative aspects of my body with Shannon and her staff. I was just like, ‘This is me and it is what it is,’ and I tried to focus on putting my best forward and enjoying and taking the entire session in…

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
People always tell me I have a beautiful smile and now I believe them. I smile more now than I have in a long time.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
How in the hell was she going to hide all my bumps and fat lumps and rolls?  LOL

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
No not really surprised, it is all in what you make out of it. I also realized it would be a while before I ever did anything like this again and I really wanted to enjoy the entire experience.

Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
Women should do a session with Shannon because Shannon is a very organized, professional and yet very comfortable to be around. She is just a woman who has this God-given talent in photography who continues to educate herself on lighting, angles, and photography in general. She knows what she is doing and she likes to empower people. She makes the sessions fun and makes one feel comfortable and then reveals her talent and your beautiful images. Leaving a woman—who may have never felt pretty or it has been a long time since she has felt pretty—feel BEAUTIFUL.  It is an amazing and empowering feeling and one that I hope lasts a long time.

Is there anything I could have done to improve upon your experience?
No, I have no ideas or thoughts on how my entire experience could have been improved. Thank you so very much!
