Since her 2017 boudoir session, Deanett has repeatedly told me she would be back for another session—she was true to her word! Below is her client interview discussing how this recent session differed from her first time around. What made you decide to do another boudoir session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
After my first boudoir session in 2017 with Shannon, I knew I was going to do another, although I didn’t have a date or milestone in mind. Shannon announced a rare mini-session day for past clients—this was perfect so I jumped on the opportunity.
I made countless trips to Underneath It Alltrying on different outfits as I came up with ideas. [Manger] Nicole was amazing putting outfits together, and then she’d take pictures so I could bounce the ideas off of Shannon. Before I knew it, I had too many outfits and I couldn’t narrow it down to [just one]. Shannon called and asked if I wanted to change the mini session to a full session…
How did this boudoir session differ from your first session?
I didn’t want it to end. [Note from Shannon: And you wanted your first session to end???]

This time around, what was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
Elements from each part make it difficult to pick a favorite. The Planning: Shopping at Underneath it All and texting Shannon lots of pics for feedback. The Session: Our conversations while Nath was doing my hair/makeup and while getting props ready. The Reveal: The movie is very special. Thank you, Shannon!
For this current session, what did you do differently than you did the first time? For example, maybe you wore outfits a bit more risqué, or incorporated props. Maybe makeup was darker or softer than the first time.
I took a different approach for this session—I wanted to show sexy in party, evening, and date night attire. In addition, I included five dozen roses and a few other special props.

Did you worry that you may not like your images from this session because the bar was already set high?
The bar was extremely high after the first session. I knew I would at least like some images, I was beyond surprised when I saw these images. [Note from Shannon: You had doubts?! 😉 ]
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
My eyes began to tear up, it was beautiful…I was completely blown away and said to myself “this is me.” Sorry Shannon, I know you didn’t see but THANK YOU for capturing me perfectly!!! [Note from Shannon: We did the reveal virtually—I shared my screen so Deanett could watch the reveal movie. As the movie is playing, I can see her but she cannot see me (so sneaky!)—she showed no emotion during the reveal movie! I thought, “Oh no! Does she like them?”]

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
This session quickly reminded me sometimes the best moments happen when they are unplanned. I knew at some point I was doing another session but I didn’t know when…maybe late summer or early fall after I accomplished a few things. Then Shannon offered the mini-session for past clients which quickly turned into a full session within a matter of days, not even close to when I thought I might be interested in doing another session. Everything came together nicely over three weeks—when she played the reveal movie I was speechless. I’m glad I didn’t wait for that unknown date, these images are perfect!
Why should other past clients do another boudoir session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
My first session was 15 months ago, since then I’ve enjoyed reading other client blogs and lounge posts which were an inspiration for me to do another session. Continue to be empowered and invest in yourself, you are worth it!
When should we schedule your next boudoir session?
I can’t give you a date yet, but the next one will be a couples session. 😉
