How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
Maybe a year or so. I follow Shannon on Instagram and was at breakfast with my husband, pulled up Instagram for something and he saw me scroll by a pic—he asked what it was, I told him it was boudoir, and he told me to go for it.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session?
She was local and I was not seeing others on social media like I did her.
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
Each part was different—and special—in its own way.
Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
A little, but I did not stress over it—I looked at other pics on Shannon’s website and studied that a little more so I was not worried.
Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
No—I knew it would not be physically comfortable and I was prepared for that.
What were you more nervous about—the session or the reveal?
I was not nervous about either.

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
Not at all—I knew Shannon had narrowed it down from over 100, so I knew at least one had to be good.
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
If you mean the tease image sent the night before, I was like, ‘WOW! I can’t wait to see the rest!’
If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Yes, but I was not overly worried… I was worried some about the pics after Shannon had me do some “messy hair” poses.
How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Maybe a little more confident—I had not lost all the weight that I had wanted to—that was part of scheduling my boudoir session out so far, but my images still look fantastic.
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
LOL From my past I knew I was photogenic—maybe that was why I was not nervous.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
I had another photographer come to my house to do pet family pics, and there are details in the final pics that the photographer did not edit/remove that I wished she had. So I was concerned my boudoir images would not be edited to my standards. Shannon exceeded my expectations.
Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
I was surprised at how exhausted I was when I got home—I had to take a nap before dinner and figure out how to do that without messing up my hair and makeup! Yes, my session was a lot of fun but I expected it to be—after all, I was getting my hair and makeup done and had never worn false eyelashes before. I loved going to dinner that night with my hair and makeup done. I loved seeing my husband’s reaction at the reveal.
Would you recommend Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes! I have been even before I even had the shoot.
Is there anything I could have done to improve upon your experience?
I got nervous when Nath left—I was like, ‘What if I mess up my hair or lipstick?’
When my nieces get married, in the far-distant future, I will definitely gift them a session for a pre-bridal present.
