Last month I shot my final session at the Carlisle studio, and I thought I would take a walk down memory lane and look at the very first session I shot at that location. Angelia will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first woman I photographed on Pomfret Street. Below is Angelia’s client interview—please take a moment to read over her thoughts, enjoy her photos, and then contact me today to discuss how you want to be photographed.
I’m always amazed that so many of my clients don’t realize how beautiful they are, that somehow a bit of baby weight, or stretch marks, or scars, or cellulite makes them not worthy to feel pretty. Which is one of the reasons I love what I do—I get to show my clients they ARE beautiful regardless of all of those things.
Angelia is one such client. She booked me because she was getting married and wanted to do bridal boudoir portraits her now-husband but she was hesitant because she hadn’t lost the baby weight from having their one-year-old son. As I always do with my clients, I assured her that between clothing that fits well, professional hair/makeup, and especially proper posing, she will look—and feel—amazing.

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I have been wanting to do one for quite some time but I never really thought I could look that good doing one. Boy, did Shannon prove me wrong! I was in need of a wedding present for my husband and since I gave birth to our son I have REALLY not felt confident in my own skin. Shannon made me feel a million times more confident and I felt like I needed that for my husband. You have to love yourself to be able to fully love someone else.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
I saw a friend of mine post a selfie with her makeup all done right before her boudoir session. I quickly became interested and blown away when I saw a finished imagine done by Shannon. I couldn’t have made a better choice and I cannot wait to do it again some time!
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
The session and the reveal have to be tied. At first, I was totally nervous about posing and being half naked. Shannon made me feel completely comfortable and like I was her only client. She really got to know me and what I wanted. She took the time to explain everything to me and was so easy to understand and work with. Working with Shannon during my shot was one of the best days! However, she did not make the reveal easy!! I LOVED all my portraits! I was picking my jaw up off the floor the entire time.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I should be a freaking movie star!!! LOL I was so amazed that was even me!
How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Way more. I never thought there would be a day I would want to show off a picture of me in my bra and panties but here we are! 🙂
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
Not at all, I learned one great thing from Shannon….chin out and down! No more double chin for this girl!
Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
I definitely wanted someone professional. Someone who specialized was very important to me. I wanted top-quality pictures and that is just what I got.
Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Oh my gosh, yes! I had one of the best days doing this session!

Shannon is literally amazing. The entire process she has made me feel as if I was her only client. She took the time to put everything on the table right away and explained every last time to me in full detail. I had her full attention no matter what. Working with Shannon felt right at home. She never once made me feel nervous or uncomfortable. Every last second was totally worth it for both of us. My picture turned out amazing and she has a very happy (more confident) client. I could not recommend Shannon any more. She is the best of the best!
