Portrait Masters “Bronze” Level Awarded | Carlisle PA Boudoir

Portrait Masters “Bronze” Level Awarded | Carlisle PA Boudoir

In July, I submitted nine images to the next round of the Portrait Masters accreditation program, and I earned the Bronze level again! Bronze in this case does not mean third place, but that my portraits are of a high professional standard of technique and communication. Five portrait masters independently review all submissions (that are submitted from around the world), looking at things such as focus, story, connection, lighting, and editing. You must be able to tick all of those boxes with the five judges in order to earn Bronze on the image. To be awarded a full accreditation, which is my goal, I must have a total of 25 points, so with a combo of January’s submissions (HERE), I’ve earned 8.5 points as of today. Next round should be January 2021—I’ll let you know for sure when I know. Kate is a newlywed! Originally her session was for May 2020, and it was to be a groom’s gift on her wedding day in June, but then COVIDD-19 came along and we had to postpone until after her wedding day, but that didn’t take away the excitement for her boudoir session. She had a special garter made for her wedding day, so I made sure we incorporated it into her session. And can we talk about Kate’s hair??! There was so much of it and I loved having her play with it for many of her poses. We had to do a hair flip! Those eyes! By pure coincidence, her bra/panty set matched the, what my husband calls, the “Rick Flare Robe” perfectly. This year, 2020, is booked solid and 2021 is filling fast—contact me today to schedule your phone consult so we can discuss how you envision your own session. Jamie: Client Interview | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Jamie turned 40 this year and wanted to do something for herself to celebrate this milestone… plus it’s a reason to show off her hard-earned abs! “From start to finish, Shannon has made it nothing but fun, exciting, and very informative on everything from posing to out fits, relax, be serious, laugh and so much more!!! Not gonna lie when I made the initial phone call to chat I was super nervous, but after that I never ever second guessed my decision. Shannon is a wealth of information and very supportive the entire time. I chose this experience because I turned 40 in February and have worked very hard over the last year to get in shape, lose a few extra lbs., and my confidence has skyrocketed. It was also the perfect timing to surprise my hubby with the album for his birthday. The actual photo shoot was so laid back and chill, and they really listen to your thoughts and ideas. Shannon and her assistant work seamlessly together to get the job done. OMG the REVEAL!!! You will not be disappointed. Based on how the photo shoot went, I knew I was in for a treat but had no idea how amazing they would look or how hard it would be to choose my images.” ~Jamie Her client interview is below–take a moment to read over her answers and then contact me today to schedule a phone consult so I can go over everything–what’s included, what you can expect, the flow, pricing/product–in detail with you. How long have you been wanting to do a session? Maybe since January 2020. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your session? Based on reviews and advertising, her business looked very reputable. After having my initial

First published January 8, 2020 It’s currently July 8, 2020–hard to believe it’s already been six months since I shot this ballerina boudoir session! I cannot wait to get back into the studio and create… I have been wanting to photograph a still-practicing ballerina since I started shooting boudoir in 2014, but I never had client book a session with me who could still do Pointe, so I took matters into my hands and did a model search for two women who would come to the studio and let me be creative. I’m used to photographing stationary subjects, so to photograph a twirling woman and get everything timed correctly (feet look good, outfit looks good, face looks good, hair looks good) was a challenge. My heart is so filled with joy over the results I am bursting. It was also fun to edit and crop these images different from what I normally do. Hair/makeup credit to lead stylist Nath, and a big thank you to my assistant, Dianna, for help toss the fabric. Next week is ballerina #2! If you think this looks like fun, contact me today to discuss how you want to be photographed. Contact me today to schedule your phone consult! Military-Inspired Boudoir

Carlisle PA Boudoir Photographer Shannon Hemauer

For this week’s blog post, let’s go waaaaay back, to Jun 2014, when I was brand-spanking new to shooting boudoir and I really didn’t know what I was doing with posing and lighting… I see so many rookie photographer mistakes in these photos of Tara, but ya know what? I still love ’em (especially the image of Tara in the white shirt)! We all have to start somewhere! I’m back to shooting next month since being on a COVID-19 break… I am so excited to get in the studio again. Military-Inspired Boudoir with Model Tara Edwards I love working with models because not only do I get to be creative and try new photography techniques, but I also know going into the session I’ll be able to share their images publicly (something I don’t ask of my clients). Tara is a local model who found me on Model Mayhem (MM), which is a world-wide resource for models, photographers, hair stylists, and makeup artists to all find one another. Tara came across my MM portfolio and took the time to tell me she was a fan of my work—we quickly set up a session date. I take the time to get to know the personalities of the models I work with—their likes, dislikes, what’s important to them in their lives. Tara mentioned how proud she was of her husband serving in the PA Army National Guard and we quickly agreed a military-inspired theme was what we’d do. The only concern I had, though, was how to make the Army Camouflage Uniform (ACU) top actually look flattering on a woman. I put on my thinking cap and decided a few strands of pearls and a wide belt to make a cute-and-oh-so-short dress would do the trick. Yeah, I think we got this one.   Tara mentioned that
