Boudoir Harrisburg Pennsylvania Photographer Shannon Hemauer Photography

Delane (rhymes with Melanie) is an amazing woman. Her outlook on life is one of gratitude and appreciation, even though she’s been through some shit. You cannot help but smile when you speak to her—she radiates joy. Would you believe she’s in her early 50s (Very little post-production was needed! She really is in amazing shape.), a mother of one, and a grandmother of three? She is a self-proclaimed workaholic, often working 60-70 hours a week at the restaurant she manages, and when she’s working she is often found in her signature pink heels. (Yes. She wears heels while working that 60-70 hour week!) What makes Delane’s positive attitude so amazing is she donated her kidney two years ago to her then-husband of almost 20 years, who then in turn cheated on her with the nurse who took care of him after the surgery. You read that correctly: Delane donated her kidney to her then-husband, who then cheated on her with the nurse. To keep things professional I won’t tell you what I think about that… Her divorce became official two days before her session with me. When I asked Delane why she was doing this boudoir session, she told me: I am doing this for me. A while back I was going to do this for a gift for the husband… My new single life made me want to do this for me! I see me differently! I see my smile now—not the wrinkles! Some of my friends think I’m crazy… some think it’s awesome! I really don’t care because it’s strictly for me! I have become a very strong, independent woman who finally really loves herself. I don’t have a man in my life but I feel more loved than I ever have! When my husband left me

Couple’s Boudoir: Bambi & Jesse | Carlisle PA Boudoir Photographer | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Couple's Boudoir York PA Shannon Hemauer Photography

Bambi did a one-woman boudoir session with me in September 2019, and had so much fun that she booked a couple’s boudoir session for January 2020 before she saw a single image! The day of the couple’s boudoir session, we all had sick kiddos and we needed to get home to them—we shot this entire session in under 35 minutes! That is a record! It helped Bambi was a repeat client—she knew what to expect and relaxed quickly once we got going. Her hubby, Jesse, while hesitant to arrive to the studio for the session, relaxed and had fun as well. I love capturing that connection between a couple. <3 Looks like fun, right? Well it is! Contact me today to schedule your couple’s boudoir session. (And don’t for a second think, ‘Well, if I looked like her I’d do a boudoir session’! Regardless of your size/shape/age/beliefs, you will rock your own session. And I truly mean that. I help you figure out your wardrobe as well as pose you top to bottom, start to finish. Trust me. You got this.) Thank you to lead stylist, Nath, for another great job on hair and makeup, and to Dianna, for assisting for the day. Breaking the Chains: Jen | Lancaster PA Boudoir Photographer | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Boudoir Lancaster PA Shannon Hemauer Photography

Jen is a repeat client who keeps me on my toes when it comes to her boudoir sessions. The first time we worked together was in 2018, and she requested I photograph her with some “Benjamins”… so she showed up with a wad of $100.00 bills! In January 2020 she booked me again because she lost 28 pounds, broke up with her boyfriend, and was for the first time ever living by herself (no more kiddos in the house!). She wanted to celebrate breaking free from things that had really held her back—she decided she wanted to be photographed in chains! (She told us she had literally asked the Home Depot employee how much chain would she need to wrap several times around a body! I wish I could have seen his face!) As we finished with this “outfit,” I told Jen I felt she needed a photo of her with the chains at her feet, holding the handcuffs, representing no longer being bound by burdens. Jen went on to express her personality by wearing something she’s a big cheerleader for… any guesses what that may be? I love Jen’s hair! She’s naturally curly, and then lead stylist Nath just helps define those curls. How do you want to express yourself in your boudoir session? Contact me today so we can discuss! Paula | Hershey PA Boudoir Photographer | Shannon Hemauer Photography

“I have always wanted to have professional photos taken. I spent 26 years raising my children. I focused on my family for so many years, only in the last few years have I started to focus on me. I took this opportunity for me, to reconnect with my strength and confidence. Shannon and her team were very professional. They made me feel very comfortable. When I received my photos I was beyond pleased. I saw the beauty in myself I hadn’t seen in a long time. I couldn’t be happier with the results!” Paula Paula has an infectious smile. Every time I saw her during the planning/session/reveal, I couldn’t help but smile myself. She’s just a bright light. I started something new during the planning process—before the session, I’m now sending the client a short questionnaire asking her to tell me a bit about herself, like why is she doing the boudoir session, what does she hope to get out of the experience. I’ve been doing client interviews after the session for some time to learn what they thought when they first saw their images, etc, but my goal with the new questionnaire is to get to know them better so you, the reader, may find you’re connecting more with them. So what did I learn from Paula? Well, that she celebrated 30 years of marriage in 2019, has four kids and four grandkids. She told me she’s, “On a journey to love me and find me again.” (I KNOW many of you can relate to that!) When asked why she is doing her session, she said, “To look at me and find more confidence and self love. To remind me of who I am. [At my session I want to] have fun, build confidence and feel sexy. I have

Client Interview: Stacey | Carlisle PA Boudoir Photography | Shannon Hemauer

Happy New Year, everyone! I’m excited to get started with 2020! I am on a professional journey this year to improve my craft—more info to come on this subject. So, this client interview is with Stacey, who is super critical of herself, which is a pretty common thing I’m told by clients. I honestly think one of the reasons women are so hard on themselves in photographs is they are often looking at snapshots taken by a point-and-shoot camera/cell phone—the lenses in these items tend to be a 35mm, which is a wide-angle lens and can distort things at close range, e.g., your nose looks bigger than it really is. I take the before photos up close on purpose with my cell phone camera so you can see the difference that using a professional photographer makes. Notice I didn’t say a professional camera. It’s the photographer who knows how and when to use a 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, etc. I wish I had permission to use Stacey’s before image (taken with my cell phone’s camera)—it really demonstrates my point. Below is Stacey’s client interview. Please take a moment to read over her answers, and if you can relate, please contact me today to discuss your own boudoir session. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session? Been on my mind for several years. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir glamour session?  The phone consult with her and prior clients’ comments. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? The reveal. Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)? Absolutely! I don’t wear makeup
