From the hair, makeup, outfit consultations, posing and confidence-boosting pep talks…they all made me feel wonderful, sexy and extremely comfortable posing in front of the camera.” Heather I’m always surprised at how often I hear from a client they don’t think they are photogenic—Heather was no exception. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know I don’t believe there are non-photogenic women. Instead, I believe there are women who haven’t been taught how to pose in front of the camera. And that’s where I come in. It’s my job as a boudoir photographer to know how to pose women well of all shapes and sizes. Honestly, those who think they are non-photogenic are my favorite woman to work with because I get to prove them wrong! I love watching their face light up as they see their images for the first time, as they realize YES! I do look amazing in photos. It’s also my job to bring out a client’s personality during her session—Heather asked during her wardrobe consult if there was a way to incorporate her love of coffee (she special orders her coffee from monks!). I asked her to bring a favorite coffee mug and we’d see what we’d get… Heather also wanted to do something special for her boyfriend, who is an avid bicyclist, so she incorporated a cycling shirt and we made sure to not zip it up too far. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I had done one years ago [with another photographer]. I had been losing weight and ending a 6 1/2 year relationship and decided it was something I wanted to do for myself at a time in my life full of change. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session? I loved her portfolio and just had this gut feeling about her. The gut was spot on! What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? The session. I had so much fun! Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)? Not at all. I had total confidence that everything would be great. And loved the way my hair and makeup looked even after I drove all the way home—and I definitely didn’t live close by! Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward? Not at all. While it wasn’t always the most physically comfortable positions I’ve ever been, I had felt great chemistry with everyone and had complete faith in Shannon. Elizabeth’s Powerful Interview | Reading PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography

If you’ve been hesitant to book a boudoir session with me because…because…because…I want you to take a moment and read over this Elizabeth’s interview, because I think you’ll find you can relate to her worries. Elizabeth has an amazing smile, a fantastic shape, and these big, friendly eyes. But she kept getting in her own way, by which I mean, she didn’t believe she was all of these wonderful things and this caused her to have a difficult time relaxing and just enjoy the experience. It wasn’t until she finally saw her images that finally the lightbulb went off and she was like, ‘Oh, wow. I AM beautiful. And this was a lot of fun!’ The two images Elizabeth gave me permission to use in this blog are the final edits, but I started showing my clients the unedited images at their reveal because I want them to see how stunning they are without post-production. It’s amazing what professional hair/makeup do, how a well-fitting wardrobe can help shape you, and how proper lighting/posing will bring it all together. You’ll also find I’ve sprinkled another client’s images throughout the post. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I’m an impulse shopper! I hadn’t thought much about doing a session until I sent a sexy selfie to my boyfriend and he really liked it. That made me think that he’d love a boudoir photo (I didn’t realize I could get a whole book!). We are together just over a year and he has a birthday coming up, so the time was right. I believe all women deserve to do a boudoir session, but usually the #1 reason women don’t book a session is because cost is often a hinder, and I’d like to change that… What if I said you could “name your own price*”? This is your chance to customize your own session! Why? Because it’s such a fun and empowering experience. This is not me giving you a discount or doing a sale, but working with you to come up with a collection that makes you and I both happy. I want you to do a boudoir session, so this is my way of figuring out how I can make this happen. There are a few guidelines: Session needs to be booked by September 30, 2019 and shot by February 29, 2020. I need to cover my expenses and pay my bills, so nothing below $625.00 as a starting point. (As a reference, my standard collections begin at $1,500.00.) Collection requires 50% down and must be paid in full no later than one week before the session date. Requires monthly auto-payments.
