FLASHBACK: Originally post June 14, 2018. I don’t think Keri has ever truly seen herself as sexy before her session. There were a few times I had to encourage her to keep her session date because she just wasn’t sure how her portraits were going to turn out…she was worried she wouldn’t find anything to wear that she looked great in…she was worried about her weight… But she showed up for her session—on her five-year wedding anniversary!—as prepared as she could possibly be. Nervous, but ready to have fun. Below you’ll find her client interview and you’ll see why she was blown away at her portrait reveal. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I have always wanted to do one, but [co-worker] Lisa convinced me that it was well worth the investment! What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session? Lisa as well! After I saw her photos, and the others on Shannon’s website, I knew she was the one I wanted to work with. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? My favorite part was the session day. I felt like a beautiful queen! I got to get all dolled up and dressed up. I’ve never looked so good, even on my wedding day! Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)? I felt like the makeup was too much, but it worked in the final pictures. Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward? Definitely! I thought I would look weird in a lot

Shelby contacted me a few weeks before her wedding—she’d been thinking of doing a bridal boudoir session as a present to her husband-to-be for some time, but had been so busy with work and planning the wedding, she was quickly running out of time to get the session done. When she booked me, I told her because of the timing, I couldn’t guarantee she’d have her album in hand on wedding day. She was totally fine with this, BUT I wasn’t. It was really important to me that she have her present to give her hubby on their wedding-day morning…so I worked hard to make sure that will happen on June 15th! I’m happy to say her album arrived yesterday! I’m looking forward to hearing her groom’s response! “I had my session with Shannon and I have to say it was THE best experience! Since I am putting together the final touches for my wedding, I really didn’t have the chance to psych myself out—I tend to do easily. This worked to my benefit because [it was only] when I approached the stairs to her studio I [finally] got a knot in my stomach. Shannon met me at the top of the stairs with the most friendly and reassuring hug! I knew right then and there that everything was going to be okay. Shannon takes you by the hand and walks you through the whole process—she really makes you feel at home. She takes the time to get to know you personally. She says that everything you are experiencing and feeling is normal and that it IS okay to be nervous. My photos show a nervous face at first which then progressed to a fierce, sexy being that owned the camera. I saw a side of me that I didn’t

Her Session Gave Her Confidence | Boudoir Carlisle PA | Shannon Hemauer Photography

I often say a boudoir session isn’t “just” a photo shoot, that the entire process of planning/session/reveal often boosts a woman’s confidence, and my client, Shannon, experienced this for herself. (Great name by the way!) Shannon was doing her session as a surprise gift for her husband, but she was so much on Cloud 9 from her session, that she confessed that day to her hubby what she’d been up to—there was just no way for her to hide how amazing she was feeling! We did her reveal in November 2018, and in March 2019 I received an email saying she and her husband are expecting a baby due in August…nine months after her reveal! I like to tell clients I’m not responsible for what happens nine months after they give their signifiant other the images—I have close to a dozen of “Boudoir Babies”—but what’s really cool about Shannon’s story is her husband hadn’t seen the images yet! Shannon felt so amazing in the red bra/panty/garter belt/robe she wore for her session, that she wore the same outfit for her hubby one evening before her image reveal…and then, nine months later… My point is this: she felt confident, even before she saw a single image! Shannon did an amazing job—I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything went very smooth and the photos she took turned out AMAZING. She is not kidding when she says she is not responsible for what happens after you give the images to your significant other–my due date is August 10th. She definitely gave me the confidence posing in lingerie and seeing how all the poses she puts you in really makes the difference. Once again, Shannon is hands down number ONE!! How awesome is that?! Baby Bump Boudoir Sessions | Carlisle PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Baby Bump Boudoir Sessions | Carlisle PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography

You may be wondering why I’m showing maternity images—after all I say I shoot exclusively boudoir and contemporary glamour. Well, here’s the beauty about pregnant women: they fit very well into those genres. Most of the time for boudoir/contemporary glamour sessions, the client wants to diminish her belly, so shooting baby bumps is a fun change, because it’s all about showing off that belly bump! I know a lot of women feel, as the cliché goes, as big as a house, while pregnant and maybe the last thing on their mind is to have professional baby bump photos taken, but take it from me—you should do this for yourself. I speak from experience: I didn’t do a bump session with my first baby and looking back, I wish I had—the only photos I have of that time period are cell phone snapshots taken here and there. I honestly don’t recall why I didn’t do a maternity session with my first born…maybe I felt too fat? Or didn’t want to spend the money? Or didn’t understand the importance of existing in photographs? Or maybe I didn’t put enough value into professional photographers at that time (this was three years before I started to learn photography.) Whatever my reason, it was a dumb one! I’m so happy I had professional maternity photos taken with my second baby—I was actually just looking at these photos over the weekend as I celebrated my boy turning 7. I recommend shooting a belly bump session in your 8th month—your belly is big and round, but you’re not so close to your due date that we could miss the session if baby decides to come early. I’d love to discuss my sessions with you—contact me today to schedule a complimentary phone consult. Hair/makeup credit goes to lead
