Jen booked her boudoir session because she wanted to do something for her boyfriend… …and then during her session she casually mentioned she’d lost 100 pounds a few years ago! She lost the weight with the help of her doctor and a personal trainer and is now a figure competitor—working out is something that’s part of her daily routine and how she met her boyfriend! It comes full circle. 🙂 A big thank you to my lead stylist Nath Kreider for a great job on Jen’s hair and makeup, and to my assistant Dianna, for keeping me on track. Love what you see? FarmersOnly.com Wife | Gettysburg PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography
“You don’t have to be lonely, with FarmersOnly.com!” I would like to start by apologizing for getting the “FarmersOnly.com” song stuck in your head, and if you’re not familiar with the song I’m referencing, take a look HERE. Chrissy met her husband on FarmersOnly.com. She’ll be the first to admit their commercials are a bit cheesy—but effective! She was sitting on her couch one evening, saw the commercial and though she’d give it a chance…only to be disappointed at her options, so she logged out of the site and went about her way. BUT! A few months later she saw another FarmersOnly.com commercial and thought she’d give it another try. And this time, when she logged in, the very first man listed would end up being her husband! Chrissy and her man were married in September 2017 and for their one-year wedding anniversary Chrissy wanted to surprise her man with portraits of her that he’d love. Below you’ll find her client interview with me sprinkled in with a few of her images—please take a moment to read over her answers, and if you find you can relate, contact me to schedule your phone consult. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I started looking into boudoir in late October 2017. I had gotten married in September and had already started to think about what I could give my husband for our one year anniversary. I had been looking on Pinterest to get some ideas and came across some boudoir photos. I had no idea what “boudoir” was at the time. I googled boudoir photographers in my area and came across Shannon Hemauer Photography. I immediately pulled up her website and started looking through
PWG Talk | Interview with Boudoir & Contemporary Glamour Photographer Shannon Hemauer
To twist things up this week, I’d like to share my recent interview with Powerful Women’s Group creator, Colleen. It was fun to share how I got started in photography, why I love boudoir, and a bit about what boudoir and contemporary glamour portrait photography means to me. PWG Talk | Interview with Boudoir & Contemporary Glamour Photographer Shannon Hemauer Oct 3, 2018 Meet Shannon Hemauer, a portrait photographer with a studio located in Carlisle, PA. Shannon shoots exclusively boudoir and contemporary glamour portrait photography for “everyday women” of all shapes, sizes, and beliefs. She is a U.S. active duty Air Force veteran, wife, and mother. Shannon shares her story about how she left her full-time editor/writer job to pursue her dream of being a boudoir/contemporary glamour portrait photographer. She talks about the personalized, fun, and empowering experience she and her team provide. “One of the best parts of my job is developing a long-lasting friendship with many of the women I’ve worked with. What job allows you to have such a connection? I love what I do,” stated Shannon! When and how did you first get started in photography and how did it become your career? In 2013, my husband purchased me the Nikon D2300 (entry-level DSLR) camera so I could take photos of our boys. After owning the camera for a week, I decided to challenge myself and learn how to shoot manual, just for the fun of it. At the time, our boys were young and didn’t want to sit still for too long, and I couldn’t think through my manual settings that fast to capture anything decent, so I asked a friend if I could practice taking photos on her older children. She said yes, and it was a lot of fun! So, I decided for
Madame Professor | Harrisburg PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography
“Madame Professor” had me and my team in tears from laughing so much during her session. During the planning portion of her session, Madame Professor randomly emailed me and asked if she could be photographed with donuts because her boyfriend loves donuts. I wish you could have seen my face as I read THAT email. Like, how in the world do I make donuts look sexy in a boudoir session?! But I think I succeeded and we had a blast making her vision come to light. Madame Professor is, as the name suggests, a professor, and because of her job we agreed it was best to keep her identity private, but that also means images with her face aren’t shareable, including most of the donut images. That’s OK! I think you’ll still enjoy the two images I am sharing, as well as I think you’ll enjoy her client interview. Please take a moment to read over her answers and if you find you can relate to her, contact me to schedule your complimentary phone consult to discuss how you want to be photographed. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I, like many women, struggle with not feeling “good enough,” not “pretty enough”… just not “enough” in general. Yet externally, I get validation from others. They tell me I AM pretty enough and good enough. I rarely believed them. I wanted to see what everyone else supposedly sees, and I knew I couldn’t see myself on my own, as strange as that sounds. I needed help. I needed to see myself in the way others see me instead of the lens with which I commonly see myself: my wounded childhood lens. When I
