Katie is a newlywed! She and her now-husband tied the knot on April 28th. Katie did her session as a wedding day gift to her groom—she said her loved his gift! Below you’ll find her client questionnaire—please take a moment to read through her answers and then contact me today to schedule your complimentary phone consult. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I knew I wanted to do a boudoir session as a gift for my fiancé. I was lucky enough to find Shannon and book in time before my wedding! What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session? Honestly, once I decided I wanted to do a shoot, I did a web search to find local photographers and Shannon was at the top of the list. After browsing her site and visiting a few others there was no question I wanted Shannon to do my shoot. Her pictures are gorgeous and classy while still giving that sexy feeling I wanted to portray. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? I would have to say the reveal was my favorite part. It’s all so exciting but sitting down and finally getting to see the finished product makes all the worry worth while!! Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)? The day of my session I definitely felt like my hair and makeup did not feel like me. I liked the way it all looked but was very different than what I would normally wear or gravitate towards. Did

Client Interview: Faith | Hershey PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography
Faith booked a boudoir session with me because she wanted her husband to have portraits of her—she doesn’t like her photo taken, but understands the importance of existing in photographs for those you love. Faith presented an interesting dynamic to her session for me to figure out—she doesn’t like her smile. And I’m not talking about a big smile, or a smile showing teeth. She doesn’t like even the smallest hint of a smile on her lips. Now, to get the eyes to engage and be connected in camera (aka, to not look uninterested and pissed off), I needed her to at least give me a slight smirk…which she did very well! I did appease her and took a few images where she has no smirk at all, and I was relieved when she liked most of her portraits, smirk or no smirk! She is also the first women I’ve photographed in four years who, while she liked her photos, still didn’t feel at least a little more confident in having her photo taken. Why am I sharing this with you? Because, again, she did this session for her husband, who thinks she’s beautiful. So even if you don’t think you’re photogenic, there are probably people out there who will disagree with you! They want to have pictures of you! So I guess from Faith’s session I learned I may need to sometimes shift my goal of taking the most stunning portraits you’ve ever seen of yourself, to instead taking the most stunning portraits your friends/family have ever seen of you. Her husband (who came to her reveal with her) was truly thrilled and was smiling ear to ear as were were going through her portraits. Below you’ll find Faith’s client interview. Rachel | Boudoir | Central PA
Answer me this: Why do you still feel you must be a certain weight/size in order to look good in portraits? Haven’t I shown you by now that no matter what body shape or pant size that you are, you can still look amazing? Need more proof? Well, let me introduce you to my client Rachel. Rachel very much owns her curves, so it didn’t take much work on my end to help her feel amazing. Look at her eyes! Stunning! A few weeks ago I added a sheer robe with feathers on the trim to the studio wardrobe, and Rachel was the first client to try out the over-the-top item! So much fun (but left feathers all over the studio! May not have been the best purchase on my end. LOL) I paired Rachel’s pretty bralette with one of my tulle skirts, thus creating a complete look! As well as paired the skirt over the dress rental for a totally unique dress for her, as you can see in this next image. Rachel is a newlywed, so I worked in her wedding garter in this shot…I like the lightness of the garter compared to the black of the outfit. Sabrina | Boudoir | Gettysburg, PA
What a small world it is! During Sabrina’s phone consult, we realized we were stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, OK at the same time. In fact, I probably in-processed her into the 552nd Maintenance Squadron—at that time I was a Senior Airman assigned to the Mobility Department for the 552nd Logistics Squadron, where it was my job to get maintenance troops assigned to the Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS jet from Point A to Point B. Part of that process was for me to in-process newbies to the maintenance squadron, and back in 2001/2002, Sabrina would have found her way down to my desk. Sabrina, who has been in the Guard since 2006, really takes her military carer seriously…I mean, check out her “before” image! She looks like she’s standing at attention! Sabrina did her session for her fiancé, who had NO idea she was doing this for him. In fact, at her portrait reveal, he was with her and still had no idea why he was at my house until I started to play her portrait reveal movie, that’s how well she kept the secret! So, I’m in love with the waist trainer Sabrina wore for her session. It really made her outfit feel totally badass! And look at those boots with the stockings/garter belt. BADASS. We really put our heads together to make this session something her fiancé would truly love—we incorporated a few of his favorite books and she’s wearing one of his favorite t-shirts. Paired with tall socks and booties, of course. For days after Sabrina’s session, lead stylist Nath commented to me about how perfect Sabrina’s lips are for lipstick ads. We may have helped Sabrina discover her career once she retires from the Air Force. Yes. That is all of her own
