Courtney is a step-mother and a momma to 10-month-old twin boys. She scheduled her session because she wanted to surprise her husband with amazing portraits, but about two months after booking she had second thoughts about spending the money on herself—something I KNOW other mommas struggle with—so we talked about how it’s important for her to do things for herself. That it’s important to step away from being “mommy” and reconnect with “wifey.” How it’s important to #existinphotographs. On the day of her session, she thanked me for convincing her she really should go through with this experience—I helped her to see she is deserving to be pampered and spoiled, and do something FUN! The portraits were initially for her husband to enjoy, but the truth is, Courtney needed to do this for herself. And boy did she rock her session! In the two years since I’ve been including the dress rental, Courtney is the first woman who declined the dress—she was ready for her boudoir pictures and wasn’t going to waste time wearing clothing! 🙂 Her husband just adores her, and that really played into her confidence during her session. Where other woman may have shied away from shooting a boudoir session only a few months after giving birth to twins, Courtney really embraces her post-pregnancy figure. Confidence truly is the sexiest thing a woman can wear. A big thank you to hair/makeup artist Nath Mao for bringing her skills for the day, and to Alisha the Assistant for assisting. Do you know of a woman who should honor her post-pregnancy body? You can purchase her gift cards for her to use toward her non-refundable retainer and/or a collection purchase! You can purchase them directly through my website HERE, and you decide if you want the gift card mailed directly to the receipt or

Beauty Works Salon Harrisburg PA Shannon Hemauer Boudoir

Beauty Works salon owner, Pheap Seltzer, had a lot of fun shooting a session with me earlier this year. I took a few moments to chat with her about that experience. Hair credit: Pheap Seltzer Makeup credit: Nath Mao How long have you been wanting to do a contemporary glamour portrait session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I like to do things on whim. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your contemporary glamour portrait session? I actually saw your work from my sister [hair/makeup artist] Nath Mao and liked it. So the rest was history! What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? My favorite part was the reveal because it was shocking to see how pretty I was! What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?  I thought I might do it again down the road! How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?  After the photo shoot of course I felt glamorous but had no place to go but back home to being a mommy! LOL Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour portrait session with Shannon Hemauer Photography? I think all women should try this out! Dressing up can be fun and fantastical! Looks like fun? Contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult so we can discuss how you envision your own session. Until next time, Shannon

Mother/Daughter Contemporary Glamour Portrait Session

TGIF! And that means let’s recap this week! Monday I blogged about the mother/daughter contemporary glamour portrait session Momma Sharon and Daughter Emily did with me in September. I also posted a video of jazz singer Olivia Marstellar twirling in a lace dress. (Note: that is her singing with Swing Street in the soundtrack I used.) And I also mentioned what a great present gift cards from Shannon Hemauer Photography are for Christmas. #ShopSmall #ShoptheChamberFirst Until next time, Shannon

Sharon & Emily: Mother/Daughter Session | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Mother/Daughter Contemporary Glamour Portrait Session

Sharon approached me about shooting a contemporary glamour portrait session with her grown daughter, Emily, because she thought (correctly) it would be something fun to do together. Sharon and Emily are such an adorable mother/daughter combo, and I don’t mean just looks, but in spirit. They share an amazing bond with each other—probably safe to say they see each other as their best friend. Both had a lot of fun planning the session—they were so quick to laugh during all of the consults! (I seem to attract quick-to-laugh clients! 🙂 ) Sharon usually wears her hair straight, but wanted to try some curls to her style—she is now thinking she needs to own a curling iron. I seriously love the image below, with the sheer curtains blowing around Emily. Is this something you’d like to do with your own daughter(s)? (Don’t worry if you have sons—they can come play, too!) A big thank you to Nath Mao for bringing her mad skills in hair/makeup to the session. Do you want to #existinphotographs with your child? Contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult. Until next time, Shannon

Christie wanted to do something special for her husband’s birthday/their anniversary, so she scheduled a session with me so she could gift to him beautiful portraits that were sure to make him smile. I think in the image below Christie resembles the “Biggest Loser” host Allison Sweenty a tiny bit. You agree? Well, even if you don’t agree on that topic, surely you agree that she looks A-MAZ-ING! That’s the only image I was granted permission to share on the blog, which is totally fine—I never want  a client to feel uncomfortable with having her images on the Internet, so at the portrait reveal we go through the purchased portraits and I let her decide what I can/cannot share with the public. And as usual, Ashley Becker totally rocked in the hair/makeup department! Looks like fun doesn’t it? Well because it IS fun! Contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult to discuss how you want to be photographed. Until next time, Shannon
