Lisa and Her Little Ladies

Lisa and Her Little Ladies

This has been the year mothers are existing in photographs with their children! So many mommas are behind the camera, and the simple truth is, once you are gone your children will look for portraits of you. What will they find? Lisa shot a boudoir session with me earlier this year (something totally out of her comfort zone) and while she was getting her hair and makeup done I mentioned to her how I shoot mother/daughter contemporary glamour portraits. Lisa loved this idea so much we made it happen. Little sis, Lauren, age 6, and Anna and Lydia, age 10, (who are part of a set of triplets)–left their brother and dad at home to do “boy stuff” while they came with mom to be all girlie. Lisa wanted the girls to wear identical dresses for their included dress rental. The girls picked the adorable white flowy dress with the embellishments on the top. For a mother/daughter session, I take pictures of each child individually, together, mom individually, mom with the daughters, and so on. The lace dress the girls are wearing is something they already owned, the white dress is their included dress rental (so Mom AND daughters get the included dress rental and hair/makeup), and the beige outfit consists of a tea-stained tops Lisa did (thanks to my tutorial) paired with tulle skirts Alisha and I made for them. Anna was a good sport—she’s not into tulle at all, but for her momma she made sure to smile in her portraits. When we got to the tulle skirt outfit, I said, ‘Let’s do a bit more of a sassy pose for you’—look at that super model attitude! 🙂 Now, please take note of the tiara Lisa is wearing in the left portrait below. She specifically purchased the tiara for her session with

The 2016 Ladies Night is Two Weeks Away!

The 2016 Ladies Night is Two Weeks Away!

For the local ladies, swing by Lehman Motors Volvo on the Carlisle Pike on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM and help support a wonderful cause that I’m excited to be a part of for the third year in a row—Ladies Night in support of raising awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Details are in the flyer below. What the flyer doesn’t mention is my amazing husband, Brooks, is again the bartender for the evening and will be serving a variety of his own home brews from Hemauer Brewing Company. Want to know what I’m donating for the raffle prize this year? Take a look! You must come to the event and purchase a raffle ticket to be eligible to win. 2015’s winner of the raffle, Angie, says of her experience: It was a fun and inspiring experience! After talking things through with Shannon we came up with a plan on outfits, hair and makeup. I’m thrilled with my photos and am now hoping to do more in the next year! Many thanks to Shannon, Nath and Alisha for your professionalism & fun girl talk! To learn more and to RSVP for the event, please email Mary at mary@lehmanvolvo.com. See you in two weeks! Shannon

71 and Stunning

71 and Stunning

Don’t ever tell me you are too old to own stunning portraits of yourself, because it’s not an excuse or the truth. Meet Pam, a 71-year-old woman who is full of life and adventure—she pulled up for her initial consult with the top down on a convertible Mustang! To look at her, you’d think she was easily in her late 50s/early 60s (at the latest!). This first photo of Pam is one of my favorites that I took this entire year—I love how confident she looks wearing her included dress rental. I want to thank fellow WING member Tonya Wenschhof, aka JeWelRy LaDy with Premier Designs, Inc., with helping Pam select jewelry for the white/coral dress and the light blue dress below. Tonya offers complimentry wardrobe consults—no obligation to purchase—to help ladies jazz up their existing wardrobe. Pam wore this light blue dress a few year’s ago to her son/daughter-in-law’s 20th anniversary vow renewal in Jamaica. Pam finished her session with a boudoir outfit! She purchased a black & white slip nightie from local lingerie boutique Underneath It All. A big thank you to Nath Mao for her mad skills with hair and makeup! Nath does freelance work, so if you need a hair/makeup stylist for an event, please don’t hesitate to contact her. Looks like fun, doesn’t it? And now that you no longer can say you are “too old” to do something fun like have your very own boudoir or contemporary glamour portrait session, contact me today so we can chat about how you envision your own session. Until next time, Shannon

Step-Mother/Step-Daughter Contemporary Glamour Portrait Session

Step-Mother/Step-Daughter Contemporary Glamour Portrait Session

Step-Mother/Step-Daughter Contemporary Glamour Portrait Session It appears I’ve become Emily’s photographer for life. I first photographed her for her boudoir session, a gift to her then fiancé on their wedding day. Then I photographed her for a Glam the Dress session, where she got to wear her wedding dress again with the goal of seeing how many non-bridal looks we could get using her dress and veil. And now I present to you this latest session (Drum roll!): a step-mother/step-daughter contemporary glamour portrait session. Ava is Emily’s 13-year-old step-daughter and just a sweet young lady. She was polite, bubbly, and a joy to photography. She and Emily seem to have a very close and loving relationship. And you know we had to break out the tulle skirt, ’cause there isn’t anything much girlie than a tulle skirt. Seriously. This is not how 13 looked when I was a kid. I am not a family portrait photographer, but when I shoot a contemporary glamour session, I do invite the boyfriend/husband/sons to come during the last 30 minutes of a session so I can take a few shots with them incorporated in the portraits. It’s important men exist in photographs as well! Why the last 30 minutes? So they aren’t sitting around B.O.A.R.D. Plus it’s fun to watch their eyes twinkle when they see their girlfriend/wife all glammed up. 🙂 I love their little family! A big thank you to the talented Nath Mao for her hair/makeup skills for both Emily and Ava. So! Looks like fun doesn’t it? Because it IS! Contact me today about existing in photographs WITH your children! Until next time, Shannon

Jenn Allen: ProNamel Commercial Star

Jenn Allen Pro-Namel Toothpaste Shannon Hemauer Photography Carlisle PA

Jenn Allen: ProNamel Commercial Star I meet Jenn through WING, one of the networking groups I’m a member of locally. Turns out Jenn had a chance to do a ProNamel Commercial a few years ago and had so much fun with the process she decided she wanted to update her head shots to submit to casting calls. I do not offer casting/acting head shot sessions, but instead will do a toned-down contemporary glamour portrait session that focuses on adhering to the industry standards in what casting agents are looking for in photographs. So instead of glammed-up makeup, it’s clean and fresh. Instead of wearing what I call obnoxious jewelry, we’ll do simple pieces. If needed, we can shoot character portraits (doctor, lawyer, etc) and/or different hair/makeup looks to really add variety to your portfolio. Even if you aren’t interested in going to casting calls, updating your pictures for your LinkedIn, social media, or a dating site is a great idea. Contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult so we can discuss how you want to be photographed. To contact Jenn, please visit her ModelMayhem page.
