Client Interview: Ashley As always, I love hearing what clients think of their experience. Their words always warm my heart! How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I’ve wanted to do a boudoir session for quite some time but I didn’t ever know if I would feel comfortable in front of the camera. Shannon immediately made me feel comfortable from our first meeting and I knew I had found the photographer that was right for me. Shannon is extremely relaxed, fun & [it was] like being with a friend throughout the entire process. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? I truly can’t pinpoint a favorite part of the experience. The entire process from beginning to end will absolutely be something that I will never forget and cherish forever. It was one of the most fun things ever I’ve done just for myself. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? My first thoughts were “Is that really me?!” I’ve never felt more glamorous or more beautiful! How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? I am absolutely more confident. Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now? I was intermittently photogenic. Shy and to myself at times. After seeing these photos I can begin to be more photogenic and let loose a bit more! Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer? I was originally concerned with the chemistry & feeling comfortable enough in my own skin to be able to do a shoot
Flirtatious Fun
Flirtatious Fun When I was helping Ashley plan her boudoir session, I really felt her portraits had to give off a flirtatious vibe. But first I had to dress her up like a Barbie(TM) doll! Onto the flirty fun! A week or so prior to her session, Ashley went to Mexico to attend a friend’s wedding—her skin had that kissed-by-the-sun look! Look like fun? It totally is! Contact me today to schedule your complimentary consult to discuss how you want to be photographed. A big thank you to Ashley Becker, owner of Makeup by Ashley, for doing another fantastic job on hair and makeup! Until next time, Shannon
Client Interview: Deb
Client Interview: Deb For almost two years I’ve been asking my clients the same questions after they’ve seen their portraits for the first time–I know many wanna-be clients often are faced with the same concerns/fears/uncertainties that many of my clients faced as well, which is why I think it’s important to share with everyone their comments—and client Deb was no exception! How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I have though about having boudoir pictures taken for a very long time. I saw pictures a friend had taken by Shannon and they were beautiful. Made my decision! Client Interview: Miss K
Client Interview: Miss K I recently did a session that produced amazing portraits for my client, Miss K, but she opted to not have any of her images posted online (because I offer a 100% privacy policy), so I thought I’d intertwine images from 2014 between her client interview. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? About 6 months from hearing a friend had completed a session with Shannon. There were a lot of milestones for the year that lead me to actually looking into the session rather than just thinking about it. 2014: Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography What made you decide I was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session? I prefer to work off of references and when my friend had shared about her working with Shannon, its comforting to know that someone you know has had a good experience. 2014: The “I BELIEVE Project” | Shannon Hemauer Photography What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? The planning. I liked taking the time to look up ideas and outfit options. 2014: Contemporary Glamour | Shannon Hemauer Photography What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? That can’t be me, it doesn’t look like me. 2014: Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography How did shooting this session with me change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? I feel like I am more aware of myself and my appearance where as I felt that I put myself on the backburner with having children, so remembering to give myself a few minutes to put on makeup or do something different with my hair or even something as simple as slip on some
Mother/Daughter Session: Hillary & Macy
Mother/Daughter Session: Hillary & Macy Hillary wanted to celebrate turing 40 this year with her daughter Macy, who is turing 13, so she booked a mother/daughter contemporary glamour portrait session with me. I love how more and more mothers are understanding the importance of existing in printed portraits FOR their children. Existing in them WITH their children. I am honored every time I get to create a family heirloom—these portraits are something Macy will show her own children one day, and she’ll say to them, “See! You can look beautiful with braces!!!” 🙂 Macy let me be a bit creative with a piece of fabric to make two different tops with a tulle skirt—two complete outfits! Hillary loved wearing her fringe top… …as much as she loved wearing her dress rental… …that complimented Macy’s dress rental perfectly! I do want to mention that Hillary is co-owner of Lébo Skin Care Center in York/Hanover, and if you’re thinking of doing a photo shoot but you’re worried about fine lines, spider veins, or acne scars, please contact either location and speak to their super-friendly staff. It’s amazing how knowledgeable they all are on the latest technology. I’m giving out 10 cool points to anyone who can guess which celebrity Alisha the Assistant and I think Macy looks like. Leave your comment below. And finally, thank you to Nath Mao for, once again, brining out the natural beauty! Is this something you’d love to do with your mother? Daughters? Grandmother or sisters? Please contact me today to discuss how you want to be photographed. Until next time, Shannon
