(Step)Mother & Daughter Glamour Session | Mechanicsburg PA Contemporary Glamour | Shannon Hemauer Photography When my friend Holly found out I offered (step)mother/daughter glamour sessions, she jumped at the chance to shoot a session with her step-daughter Courtney. I had the pleasure of taking Courtney’s senior pictures in 2013… …and boy has she grown into a lovely young woman. More on that in a bit. First, I must show you how glamorous Holly’s images turned out. These results—while she expected to be good—totally blew her away with how gorgeous she is, which was the goal. Holly brought the dress and I supplied the jewelry and gloves, because—let’s be honest here—obnoxiously large jewelry and long gloves are a must for boudoir or glamour sessions. We shot a little bit with natural light ^^^ … …^^^ and then played a bit with studio lighting for a more dramatic look. And, of course, since it was a (step)mother/daughter session, I needed to take a few of them together….one of my favorites from that series is below. Remember that 800 yards of pink tulle skirt Alisha the Assistant and I made for the I BELIEVE Project’s winner? Well, Alisha the Assistant and I made a purple & silver one…this one was only 600 yards though. And I just so happened to have a purple bustier that was the exact same color as the purple tulle! It was fate! This session was a lot of fun! Thanks ladies for giving me the chance to work with you again. And see! I told you Courtney has grown into a lovely young woman. Finally, thank you to Natalie McKee for styling hair and makeup! Until next time! Client Interview: Miss J
Client Interview: Miss J Miss J and her hubby picked up their products last Friday and I almost needed French doors to open so their smiles could get through the door—I don’t think they stopped smiling from the time they stepped foot in the door and saw their canvases and folio box. 🙂 Anyway, as I always like to do, I chatted a bit with Miss J about her before/during/after experience with working with me. How long have you been waiting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? My husband has been asking me for at least three years to do one and I realized that turning 40 next year that now was the time I wanted to do it. What made you decide I was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session? My husband researched and found your website and suggested it to me. Once I was able to read more about you and share ideas with you via Pintrest and email I felt more and more comfortable. I enjoyed being a part of what the pictures were going to be about. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? That’s a difficult one since I feel I enjoyed the entire process so much. The planning was a lot of fun, the session was fun and invigorating to some degree, and the reveal brought all of the work together to put a huge smile on my husband’s face. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? I was in awe. I couldn’t believe it was me and how amazing it turned out to be. I was finally proud of a photo of me. How
Client Interview: Miss Momma
Client Interview: Miss Momma Miss Momma is due with Baby #2 here in a few short weeks (well, to me it’s a few short weeks…to her, I’m sure she feels differently) and before those contractions start going, I wanted to take a few moments and talk to her about her Momma-Only Maternity experience. How long have you been waiting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? Doing the session was something that fell into my lap and I was very excited to do it. It felt like once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with being a stay-at-home mom and pregnant, it seemed things like this don’t come around too often. What made you decide I was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session? The “air of class” and tastefulness that you see in the pictures in your portfolio. I knew that the pictures you would take of me would resemble that type of work. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? My favorite part was the planning and the hair and makeup! Seeing myself all done up for the pictures made me feel more confident. Then the reveal was great when my husband saw the pictures. And of course the session was really better than I ever could of imagined. You’ve really found your calling with boudoir. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? It was very surreal. That’s not the person I see in the mirror. I see a rag-doll mom, the pictures reflected a relaxed and confident woman ready for her next child. How did shooting this session with me change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? I am more confident. I see that I can’t
Miss E: Totally Sensual
Miss E: Totally Sensual Miss E contacted me because she wanted to give her husband a high-end album filled with sensual images of herself. Her husband is a Cowboy’s football fan, so we worked that into her session…I think her hubby may forget all about football if she walked into the room wearing this. 😉 Miss E bought this red teddy just for her session…hubby hasn’t seen it yet and I told her she should wear it when she hands him the album. I also told her I was not responsible for any babies that arrive nine months after she hands over the album. 😀 I hope these images really help Miss E see how sensual she really is, because it’s obvious to me. I cannot wait to hear what her hubby thinks of her images. He has no idea she’s done this for him—wish I could be a fly on the wall to watch his reaction. Hair styled by Natalie McKee and makeup done by Nath Mao. Thinking of surprising your significant other with sensual images of yourself? Contact me today and let’s start planning your session. Until next time, Shannon
Miss J: Having Fun
Miss J: Having Fun Miss J’s husband, Mr B, had been searching for some time for a boudoir photographer who would make his wife feel comfortable, safe, and produce images that reflect her beauty. Mr B did his research, looking at photographers from all of PA, and decided I was the photographer that would fit the requirements. I am truly honored. After our in-person consult, Miss J knew her hubby picked well—she left the consult feeling relaxed and prepared for her session. As with all of the boudoir sessions I shoot, we started out fully clothed—this gives us time to get into our groove and gives you images that you can openly share and display—and Miss J wore a black jumper that fit her perfectly. We had the fan going to blow hair—yeah, she had fun. Miss J and her hubby are huge Syracuse football lovers (their son wisely is a Wisconsin Badgers fan! Go Bucky!), so it was important for her to work their love for their team into her session. We laughed a lot, thanks to Alisha the Assistant cracking jokes. Mr B came to Miss J’s reveal (I love having significant others at the reveal—their reactions are priceless) and throughout her reveal movie he kept saying, “Holy Shit. Wow. That’s my girl.” These two have been married 10 years (forgive me Miss J & Mr B if I got that wrong) and it was so obvious Mr B is madly in love with Miss J. And it’s easy to know why—Miss J is such a sweet woman. I—my entire team—enjoyed working with her. I want to finish this post showing you this great furry coat she bought for her session… A huge thank you to Nath Mao for doing a great job on Miss J’s makeup and to Natalie McKee
