Classy Lady…Biker Babe Miss A contacted me because she wanted photos of her on her fiancé’s motorcycle. She’s been riding motorcycles since she was 16 and this is something she and her man enjoy doing together. We had a lot of fun pinning “biker babe” ideas on her Pintrest inspiration board; discussing her outfits, hair, and makeup; and we even did a trial run posing her on the motorcycle because I was worried the bike would be too unstable and she’d fall off! Thankfully, that did not happen. The morning of her session Miss A arrived excited and ready to go. My wonderful team was ready to rock—Nath Mao did a fantastic job with her makeup, Natalie McKee styled her hair perfectly, and Alisha—the most awesome assistant ever—cracked “That’s What She Said” jokes (“The Office” lovers will get this one). Just kidding. It was me who was cracking the jokes. Anyway, back to Miss A….I started shooting her in a lovely dress with just the right touch of bling (which, by the way, is in my “to borrow” closet, should any of you ladies be interested in the dress). I wish I could share with you the images that were taken after those ^^^ and before these… …and after those ^^^ because oh my word, did she look FAB! She made standing in front of a window covered by a sheer curtain colored golden from sunlight while wearing a matching bra and panties set look like it’s an everyday thing for her. And to be honest, I’m pretty sure her fiancé wishes that was an everyday thing for her. She looked great posing on the bed “chatting” on the phone while wearing knee-high black boots. Oh, and she looked so sexy on/near her man’s bike that at the image reveal I don’t think he even noticed
Labor Day Weekend 2014
Labor Day Weekend 2014 What are your plans for the holiday weekend? Me? I get to show Miss M her images from her session earlier this month (I’m not sure who’s more excited—me or her…or her husband!) on Saturday morning (we’ll be nibbling on bagels and OJ as we admire her images). Sunday I’m shooting the lovely Miss A on top of her motorcycle…and on an oil barrel…and on a work bench… Sound like fun? Um. YES! Shannon
Announcing the I BELIEVE Project
Annoucing the I BELIVE Project I am thrilled to finally announce after several months of planning the launch of the I BELIEVE Project! The I BELIEVE Project gives wounded servicewomen and/or female cancer survivors/currently going through treatment who are legal residents of a South Central PA county a chance to feel beautiful and to see they are still feminine by offering a free boudoir or glamour session, which includes: SENSUAL package plus five 11×14 prints from Shannon Hemauer Photography of Dillsburg, PA Hair styling services from professional stylist Natalie McKee of Dillsburg, PA Makeup application from licensed makeup artist Nath Mao of Harrisburg, PA Salt Therapy Session and manicure service from Sass Salon and Day Spa located in Mechanicsburg, PA The idea for the project was first conceived when I was reflecting on my eight years in the U.S. Air Force. November 2014 would have been my 20-year anniversary in the military and I wanted a way to give back to the servicewomen who had come after me. While discussing the idea with my sister, Andrea, Andrea made a comment about how powerful a boudoir/glamour session would be to the women who had been injured during their service. Further reflection led me to decide female cancer survivors/currently in treatment would also benefit from this powerful form of feminine photography. And so the I BELIEVE Project was born! The project got the name of “I BELIEVE” because I believe all women should feel beautiful, and I have witnessed first hand what a confidence builder and transformation a boudoir session is for women. The goal of the I BELIEVE Project is to help women see themselves as beautiful, inspiring, and powerful. The I BELIEVE Project team is made up of myself; licensed makeup artist Nath Mao of Harrisburg, PA; professional hair stylist Natalie McKee of Dillsburg, PA; and Sass Salon and Day Spa in Mechanicsburg, PA, who is proudly offering the winners a Sea Salt Therapy session and a manicure. Lastly, my wonderful assistant, Alisha Newcomer, helps me stay on task and assists in creating many of the lovely props and outfits many of
Model Interview: Tara Edwards
Tara Edwards: Model Interview Tara Edwards isn’t just another pretty face in front of the camera, she’s also knowledgeable about what goes on behind the camera—owner of Little Red Images, Tara specializes in engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, and children/family photography in the Central PA area. But in October of 2013, Tara decided to try her hand at modeling, with a personal goal of taking this path as far as she can. She also felt she’d be able to relate better to her own photography clients if she clearly understood how they felt standing in front of the camera, not to mention by mastering posing herself, she’d be able to pose others for their own sessions. Plus, she informs me, since she takes a lot of pictures of her family, modeling is a way for her to get pictures of herself—something many mothers will relate to! Tara found me on Model Mayhem, which is a world-wide resource for models, photographers, makeup artists, and hair stylists to all find one another. She was impressed by my portfolio (a huge compliment coming from a fellow photographer!), and we quickly set up a date to shoot a boudoir session to add to her modeling portfolio. After discussing a few concepts for the shoot, we soon settled on doing a military-inspired boudoir session in honor of her husband who serves in the PA Army National Guard. Tara had done a boudoir session with a photographer friend a few months ago, but was ready to step out of her comfort zone and be challenged—she brought her A Game for sure! Why did you want to shoot another boudoir session? I decided to go ahead and do this because I’m working on my modeling portfolio and since my last shoot I had changed my hair. I also wanted to
Old Hollywood Glam Session
Hi! I’m Alisha and I Clean Up Well A last minute model cancelation opened up some time for me and my assistant, Alisha, so we had fun with me shooting an Old Hollywood Glam Session—you can clearly see her beauty inside is really shinning through. I had fun shooting with dramatic lighting–Old Hollywood Glam would have it no other way. A shout-out to Natalie McKee for doing her hair for my concept. I look forward to working with you in the future! More images to come. –Shannon Shannon Hemauer
