I really had no expectations going into it—we’re all our own worst critic. The session was comfortable and fun! I thought I would be a mess at it, but that thought quickly went out the window! Her entire team was friendly, personable, and instantly put me at ease. After seeing myself in professional makeup for the first time, going through the poses, and seeing some of the shots as we went along, I felt hot!
You’re coached through everything and posed perfectly, so there is no need to worry about losing weight beforehand. After shooting began, they weren’t any moments where I felt uncomfortable or exposed.

Bri and her husband often visit the taproom/brewery, Hemauer Brewing Co., my husband owns in Mechanicsburg, and it was there Bri saw my Beer & Boudoir work on the walls, and then reached out to me for information. It took her about a year after she requested information to book a session, and once she did, she ran with it! So much fun!

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session?

Her photos made every woman look great—all shapes, sizes, and ages!

How did the reality of your session compare to your expectations going into it?
I really had no expectations—we’re all our own worst critic. The session was comfortable and fun! I thought I would be a mess at it, but that thought quickly went out the window!
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the image reveal?
Seeing myself in professional makeup and then seeing one of the first shots in Shannon’s camera made me feel hot!
Did you leave your photo shoot worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
Nope! I was worried coming in and confident when I left!

Did you leave your boudoir experience worried that the posing felt awkward?
No. I was coached through it and had the chance to see for myself as we went through the session.
What were you more nervous about—the session or the image reveal? Why?
Most nervous about the posing and looking natural—I’ve never been good with pictures.
Did you arrive to the image reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?
Yes. I typically don’t like the way I look in pictures.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
Surprised in the best possible way!
If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Yes!
How did shooting this boudoir session change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? How has the experience affected your morale?
Yes, and I would do it again. I would also not stress about losing weight before as Shannon poses you perfectly!

Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
Absolutely. I’ve never had photos like these done, but no one ever coached me on smiles or posing in the past.
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
No, but I feel a bit more confident now!
Would you recommend a boudoir photo shoot with Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends? Why or why not?
Absolutely! She and her team all make you feel comfortable and beautiful!
