Dana contacted me in March of this year because she was turning 50 in October and wanted to celebrate this milestone. During her phone consult, she asked if we could shoot at her boyfriend’s garage—he owns a race car and it was her dream to be photographed in it/on it. So I said let’s make it happen!
While she wasn’t doing the session for her boyfriend, she knew he’d love them, so she wanted to keep this a surprise to him… with some crafty planning on her end and figuring out logistics on my end, we made it work. We started out in the studio, shot a few outfits there, and then caravanned it to the race car garage.
Below you’ll find a few of her images sprinkled throughout her client interview. Take a moment to read things over, and then contact me today to schedule a phone consult so we can discuss your ideal boudoir session.
How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
A few years. It took [time for] me to get the courage. It was a birthday present (50) for myself. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session?
A classmate had chosen Shannon, and shared [her images on] Facebook. I decided to make that call. What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
Posing in the garage let me be ME.Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
Did not worry.Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
Somewhat, because this was way out of my realm. What were you more nervous about—the session or the reveal?
Reveal had me nervous in the anticipation that I looked good for the camera.Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
Yes, very much. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
Blown away!If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Very much. How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
I lost weight prior to the session, and giving me a chance to pose in positions I never imagined, boosted my esteem knowing someday I would like to do another session. Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
I felt a little photogenic before , but, knowing what I know now boosted my confidence. Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
Making sure I looked as natural as possible without going over the top. Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Yes I was. Felt like a little girl again. Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
Shannon is by far a down-to-Earth lady, who keeps her job on a business level, while still maintaining her fun side. She knows her job, taking her skills and making you feel good about yourself. Is there anything I could have done to improve upon your experience?
Absolutely nothing… it was PERFECT!
A big thank you to lead stylist, Nath, for helping Dana ramp things up, and to Dianna, for holding the spotlight in the back of the race car so I could get that kick-ass hair light!
Until next time,
Shannon
