Justine had been following me on social media for over a year before she contacted me for a consult in July 2017. She’s celebrating a milestone birthday—I’m honored I was able to help her welcome it in!

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? The idea of doing a boudoir photo shoot has intrigued me for years. I’ve known other women who have done them in the past and said to myself, “I’d love to do that someday!” Years later, and after a decade of major life changes, I found myself celebrating how far I have come and enthusiastically anticipating a milestone birthday. I said to myself, “I’m not getting any younger, let’s rock this photoshoot—Happy Birthday to Me!!”

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session? I actually stumbled across Shannon’s website (for a second time) by accident. Now, me being someone who believes that nothing happens by coincidence, it was her incredible galleries of portraits that ultimately made me decide, “Yes I’m definitely going to do this.” BUT, after doing some homework and really researching other boudoir photographers in the area, I realized no other photographers could capture the essence and quality that I was looking for! I wanted a combination of sexy, yet classy—her portraits are a perfect combination of both!
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal? I loved every part of the experience! The planning was easy for me because, in my mind, I knew exactly what I wanted. Shannon was able to take my visions and turn them into beautiful results. The session was very laid back, fun, and light-hearted with lots of laughs. It’s actually hard to put into words the reveal session; to walk in and see SO MANY (not just one) incredible images of myself just blew my mind!
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? “OMG!!” Is all I could really say…I was utterly speechless.

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? Yes! Shannon was able to accentuate the good areas and strategically reposition areas that made me self conscious to produce an image of “Me At My Best!” I felt like I could be on a magazine cover.
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now? I do feel I am photogenic, but Shannon has great tricks for smiling and posing that make me feel even more confident in how I get my picture taken.
Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer? How professional are they? Would I feel comfortable enough to actually make it through the shoot itself? Shannon eased my mind on all fronts.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images? I really did have a blast with every part of the experience and honestly I felt like a child anxiously awaiting Christmas morning when counting down the days to my reveal date. I was just giddy with excitement!
