FLASHBACK: Originally post June 14, 2018.

I don’t think Keri has ever truly seen herself as sexy before her session. There were a few times I had to encourage her to keep her session date because she just wasn’t sure how her portraits were going to turn out…she was worried she wouldn’t find anything to wear that she looked great in…she was worried about her weight…

But she showed up for her session—on her five-year wedding anniversary!—as prepared as she could possibly be. Nervous, but ready to have fun.

Below you’ll find her client interview and you’ll see why she was blown away at her portrait reveal.

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?
I have always wanted to do one, but [co-worker] Lisa convinced me that it was well worth the investment!

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
Lisa as well! After I saw her photos, and the others on Shannon’s website, I knew she was the one I wanted to work with.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
My favorite part was the session day. I felt like a beautiful queen! I got to get all dolled up and dressed up. I’ve never looked so good, even on my wedding day!

Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
I felt like the makeup was too much, but it worked in the final pictures.

Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
Definitely! I thought I would look weird in a lot of the poses, but they worked in the final pictures as well.

What were you more nervous about–the session or the reveal?
I was more nervous about the session. I knew after the session that the photos would be awesome because Shannon knows what she’s doing. The reveal was a piece of cake compared to the session.

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
I did not because again I had confidence in what Shannon was doing.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I was speechless! A few tears came to my eyes because I just couldn’t believe that was me! Never had I ever looked so gorgeous in all my life. I still look at the pictures and think WOW!!

If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
My portraits came out so much better than I expected, and I did expect them to be good! As soon as I saw how good they turned out, it made me want to set up another shoot right away!

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
It made me realize that if I put some more work into myself daily I can have more confidence in myself. I have more confidence now because I know that I can be as beautiful as my husband says I am. 😉 

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
I only felt photogenic in certain photos or certain time periods in my life. Now I can say that I definitely have the potential to be photogenic at all times.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
I was concerned that any photographer I would work with wouldn’t know how to work with plus-sized ladies. I didn’t want to look lumpy on camera.  With Shannon, that wasn’t even a problem. She worked everything out so that I did not have to worry about being plus sized.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
I was surprised at how much fun I had during the whole process because initially I thought that I would just look chunky and bland, like I usually do.  I really got into the whole process with Shannon, and it turned around my attitude entirely.

Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
Every woman should do a session with Shannon because it’s a ton of fun. It helps you to have confidence in yourself and see yourself in another light.  It’s also nice because you’ll always have a memento from this time in your life that you can look back on and smile.

Is there anything I could have done to improve upon your experience?
I don’t think there is anything that could have made this better, except maybe a hot, male model to pose with me!  😉  Just kidding, it was perfect just the way it was!
