Laura: Twice the Charm | Harrisburg PA Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Laura did her first session in November 2019, loved it so much, that she came back again in 2020 to shoot a second boudoir session. And as I had hoped, the second time around she was calmer during the planning/session, and was able to relax faster and have fun. (I love working with repeat clients!).

This was my second photo shoot. I was excited because I had already done a shoot in Nov 2019 and back then, I remembered being scared. I didn’t know what to do or expect. Now this time, I was feeling much more confident and knew just want to expect.

I scheduled my [second] shoot for May 2020. Then COVID-19 hit and everything was shut down. I was bummed because my shoot was on hold for months. I had months to think about my shoot, what to wear, etc. On top of that, being a nurse, COVID did its job throwing even more stress on me. I was deployed to the local hospital treatment tent, being right in with the virus, donning PPE, being on my feet all day, working long hours, long days and even shift work. At that point, I knew I wanted to incorporate my nursing career into my photo shoot.

Finally, Shannon was allowed to re-open her business and we were able to schedule my shoot for Nov 2020. I was much more confident and ready to go. I knew I wanted Nath to do my hair and makeup knowing she would make me beautiful. Again, she worked her magic. 

Now it was Shannon’s turn. Always so sweet and calm, and guiding me along the way. Telling me just where to stand. It was extremely windy that day and the clouds were causing havoc with the sunlight coming in the window. Shannon wanted the perfect lighting. My mind was wondering “How are these photos going to turn out? Will I get photos like I envisioned?”

Reveal day came. OH MY GOSH! Shannon, once again… did not disappoint! Once again, using her gift, her talents, and her skills captured the most amazing photos. My photos were definitely better than I ever expected. I’m so happy with my photos for this shoot, I’ll definitely be booking another session in the future! —Laura

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your session?
I saw her talents and skills from my first photo shoot and knew I wanted her to do my second shoot!

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
All three! I took my ideas to Shannon, and she ran with it. The session was so much fun. I was much more relaxed this time around. The reveal was breathtaking! My photos were way more amazing than I expected!

Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
No. I knew Nath did amazing work. I couldn’t wait to see myself in the mirror.

Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
Always! It’s hard to move your head/chin and hold a smile… but it definitely is worth it in the end when you see your photos!

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?
Yes. The [session] day is so busy and time goes so fast, you have second thoughts [on how the images will turn out]. Shannon didn’t disappoint!

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
Shannon is amazing as always! Her work is amazing!

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Absolutely! Shannon brings out the best in a woman — no matter what her size is. Shannon is professional and classy!

Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
Yes! Shannon knows exactly what she is doing. She will not settle for anything less than perfect, which makes her the best in the business! It’s the little things—posing/how to stand, etc, that goes a long way.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
My reveal was awesome. My imagines were just what I envisioned!

Would you recommend Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends? Why or why not?
Absolutely! Shannon is a professional. She does not settle for poor quality. She knows if she doesn’t like something— lighting, outfits, pose, etc. She is just the best.
