[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mary-Ann has the sort of energy that I love photographing—fun, willing to step out of her comfort zone, and even though she’s been through several years of emotional pain from losing a baby in 2010, she is full of laughter.

Below is my interview with Mary-Ann before she did her session…

Tell me a bit about your life. For example: Married? Single? What do you do for a living? Dogs? Kids?
I am a two-time divorcée who just turned 40 in November, have been in my current relationship for almost four years, teach math to middle schoolers, have a daughter, and own a Goldendoodle.

Now, tell me a bit about you. For example: What makes you happy? What makes you laugh? Tell me about a time you did something that you were scared to do and you came out on top. Have you had struggles with your weight? Do you struggle with low self-esteem?
I never thought I struggled with confidence until recently, but I do. I have gain quite a bit of weight and happen to be at the largest weight I have ever been. I lost a son in 2010. He was a beautiful baby boy named Matthew who would celebrate his 11th birthday on April 26. I have really had my struggles with that, but have come to the other side of it where I can put one foot in front of the other. It took many many years, suicidal thoughts and counseling to bring me to the other side, but I did survive and carry his memory with me every single day.

On a happier note, I love my job and adore middle schoolers! The drama is exciting and their personalities are unpredictable. I enjoy being in the sun, in a pool, on a raft tanning. That is my happy place.

Why are you’re doing this session?
I am doing this session as a welcome-home gift for my boyfriend [who is deployed]. Until I see him again, it will be about 335 + days. This session is for him, but I am in need of a pick me up.

What do you hope to get out of your session? For example: More confidence? A day of pampering? Just to have fun?
CONFIDENCE! I want to feel sexy again. Not having my partner around, who is the one who hypes me up with compliments, has been very deflating.

What else would you like to share with me?
I’m very excited and anxious for this session. I will be overly self conscious to start but should warm up rather quickly. Thank you for this opportunity!
