How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I saw a Facebook ad one day while mindlessly scrolling through and it caught my attention. I pondered it for about 4-6 months before inquiring with Shannon.
What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?
I looked though her photos and was amazed. She has a true talent.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
Favorite part? I cannot decide between the shoot and the reveal. The shoot was truly empowering. I’ve had body-image issues my whole life. But when I was with the ladies I was so comfortable. I felt beautiful and absolutely amazing. Then the reveal, just wow. I couldn’t believe how amazing it was and I definitely hold my head a little higher now.
Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
I was worried about my makeup. It was a lot more than what I normally wear.
Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
The poses felt awkward but I wasn’t worried. I trusted Shannon.
What were you more nervous about—the session or the reveal?
I was really nervous about the shoot. I was sick with bronchitis and my face was pale. Plus I have NEVER been in that revealing of clothes since before I had my daughter (8 years ago).

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images?
I wasn’t nervous about the images but I was anxious to see them.
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I was truly amazed. I was honestly speechless.
If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Yes! My makeup was on-point in the pictures.
How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Yes I am more confident. I still have my moments, which I’m still working on. But if I have a rough day I look at my photos.

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
No I didn’t think I was photogenic because of being overweight. But after my session, I apparently need to up my selfie skills.
Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
I never even considered being photographed.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
I knew it would be fun by reading the blogs and stories, but even then I was still surprised at how uplifting the experience was.
Why should other women do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session with Shannon Hemauer Photography?
It’s an amazing experience. It lets you know that through the kids, housework, husband, and everything else in life that makes you feel less then pretty, that you are beautiful.
