NEW BOUDOIR SHOOTING LOCATION
In 2017, after shooting boudoir out of random rooms in my house for three years, I moved into my 3rd floor Carlisle studio on Pomfret Street.
Over the next six years, I made a some changes to the space—some furniture left and some new stuff came in, and I eventually rented out a small space on the 2nd floor for hair/makeup/my office to give me more room to shoot on the 3rd floor. I really loved this space! This space saw me earn my Associate level from the Portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation, this space helped me offer a fantastic boudoir experience to women, and this space helped me grow my business.
In January 2023, my husband and I lost our house in a fire. As we started to work with the designer to rebuild our home, we decided to build a dedicated studio space in the new house, but that space won’t be ready to probably January 2024. The house fire has also redirected my time and energy this year—I’m not marketing as much as past years, therefore I’m shooting less than I’ve done in past years. So it didn’t make sense to me to renew my lease for the Carlisle studio when I’m only shooting one session a month at the moment… BUT. I still need a space to shoot for the rest of 2023.
Enter my new Mechanicsburg shooting location! It’s a beautiful house I can rent only if/when I have a session. It’s three floors of amazing rooms, beautiful natural light, and a shower I’m obsessed over. There is a clawfoot tub! This space lets me shoot dark and moody, or light and airy. In May I did a model session to get some marketing materials, and then June I’ll start shooting clients there.
My plan is, once the new home studio is ready in 2024, to make that my main shooting location, but also have a collection that includes this beautiful house for those who want to do their boudoir session there.
As I mentioned earlier, I’m shooting less this year, and as of the writing of this post (6/4/23), I have only one date in July, August, September, October, and November available. (I’m currently booking for July, August, and September). May and June are always slow with inquiries and bookings: most of my clients are mothers, so this time of year is focused on surviving those last few weeks of school, sports, and planning summer vacations. But, once July hits, that’s when I start to book up for the rest of year.
I know a lot of my readers/followers “stalk” me for months/years before even reaching out to to gather information on my sessions. I encourage you to contact me today to learn more about my sessions (they are so much fun! Promise!!) and schedule a phone consult so we can discuss how you want to be photographed.
Until next time,
Shannon
