Noel’s Boudoir Session

When I finally decided to move forward with doing a boudoir session, I did a lot of research of photographers in the area, and just kept coming back to Shannon’s photo gallery. Every photo was classy and beautiful. I knew she was the photographer for me. All the prep work she does to get you ready for your session is phenomenal. Her advice on wardrobe choices was extremely helpful and definitely appreciated. I was so nervous on the day of my session, but as soon as I walked into her studio, all my anxieties disappeared. Shannon and her team made me feel very comfortable from start to finish. On the day of my reveal, I don’t know if I was more nervous or excited, but I was definitely both. When I saw my first photo, I was stunned. It was beautiful! I had trouble picking my favorites, so I upgraded my package so I wouldn’t have to choose. I can’t say enough about Shannon and her team. They were amazing! I definitely want to do another session in the near future! –Noel

Noel is a 50+ woman who has been married for almost 37 years, and together they have three grown daughters. She loves being with her family, and her two pups, Rocky and Bella, keep her company when she’s at home relaxing. After working at Amazon in different roles over the past 13 years, she landed her dream job there as an administrative assistant to the GM—she says she looks forward to going to work each day!

When I asked her if she’s ever struggled with weight, she said, “I’ve struggled with my weight almost all my life. I was always a little overweight by about 20 to 30 lbs. That, of course did have an impact on my self-esteem. In 2019, I decided to try Keto due to several co-workers noticeably shrinking over a few months. I was shocked when my own weight started to melt away. However, even at my current weight, I still don’t love my body, but I like it more than I did.”

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session?

I have wanted to do a session for at least three decades. I’m absolutely serious! When my daughter told me that she was going to do a session as a wedding gift to her husband, I told her that I’ve always wanted to, too. She was my catalyst to start looking into photographers. That is when I found Shannon’s site. And I’m so glad I did.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your photo shoot?

I did the research. I viewed several photographer’s work and Shannon’s just stood out.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the image reveal?

I loved buying my wardrobe, but the photo session itself was so much fun! I’d have to say the session.

Did you leave your photo shoot worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?

I was worried about whether I was going to be the “one” that just didn’t translate well through the camera lens.

Did you leave your boudoir experience worried that the posing felt awkward?

Definitely. The poses did feel awkward, but I kept reminding myself that Shannon prepared me for that.

What were you more nervous about—the session or the image reveal? Why?

I was nervous about the session, until I got there. Did I pick the right wardrobe? Would I be able to get the poses right? Was I too old to be doing this?

Did you arrive to the image reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?

I think I was more excited than worried. Shannon’s previous work with other women was beautiful. I had no reason to doubt that she could do the same for me, especially after seeing the voucher sneak peek.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?

When I saw the first image I was completely stunned at how beautiful she made me.

If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?

Absolutely. I was definitely floored by my portraits! They were so so classy!

How did shooting this boudoir session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?

It gave me a world of confidence!

Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?

I am more than just self-critical. I am one that can look at someone else’s photo and find everything beautiful about it. But when I look at my own, I can find every flaw.

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?

No. I would tell people that I only kept 1 in 1000 photos of myself. I feel with the right photographer I am photogenic, and Shannon definitely knows what she is doing.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?

For this kind of session, my age and my shape were a big factor. All the marks and scars of life were a big worry.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?

I knew it would be fun, but everything about the experience was more fun than I could have ever imagined.

Would you recommend a boudoir photo shoot with Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends? Why or why not?

Already have. To build confidence. To be able to see yourself in a different light. To have a great time looking beautiful!
