When I asked her why she is doing her boudoir session, she said, ‘I’m hoping to be a little more confident of how I look and feel about myself.”

How long have you been wanting to do a session?
I’ve wanted to do this for so long.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your session?
She had great reviews.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?
The session. I had so much fun doing this.

Did you leave your session worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
Yes worried about it all.

Did you leave your session worried that the posing felt awkward?
Yes. I thought some of these will not turn out right.

What were you more nervous about—the session or the reveal? Why?
Reveal. I was scared of how the pictures would turn out. How did I look? Did my hair and makeup look good?

Did you arrive to the reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?
Yes. I didn’t think I would like any of them.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I was blown away. Never did I think I could look like I did in my pictures.

If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Yes! I loved the way I looked.

How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Yes, for the most part. I just wish I could do at least my makeup like that all the time.

Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
Yes. I don’t like my picture taken—I always look horrible in pictures from my facial expression to my poses. Shannon told me how to pose.

Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
No, I was not photogenic. Now I know how to pose and I think I’ll be better at having my picture taken.

Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
How I would look in pictures.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
I had a blast.
