SHOWER SCENES
I love-love-love boudoir shower scenes! The images tend to have a dark & moody vibe, it’s easy to diminish the midsection (most women’s main concern), and let’s just admit it—the images are sensual!
I started shooting shower scenes in 2021 in my Carlisle studio, and at that time (because I didn’t have a real shower to use), to achieve the wet look, I’d spray the client’s body with a combination of water and glycerin to help the water stay beaded on their skin. I had a plexiglass “door,” but I struggled getting water droplets to show up on the actual image.
I finally figured out that if we use a clothing steamer, we can add steam to the door and enhance the droplets—my assistant, Dianna, would stand just off camera, and jump in throughout the shot to add steam.
But, doing things that way, it was still impossible to maintain consistent steam on the door, and it’s really the steam/water running down the door that lets the viewer know the woman in the photo is in the shower.
Enter the current shooting location! I have access to a *real* shower! Steam, water droplets, all the good stuff! And this shower is gorgeous! I asked Athena (my lead stylist) to let me take some photos of her in the shower for marketing, and I’m obsessed! The grid on the shower door is an added bonus—I was able to pose her in such a way that the grid was sort of a “black bar” over her breasts—made the images social media safe!
If you’re wondering what you’d wear in a shower scene, well, you can wear pretty much anything (teddy, panty, bath suit) or nothing at all (nothing gets shared online without your permission, and you don’t have to give me permission)…
