Step-Mother/Step-Daughter Contemporary Glamour Portrait Session
It appears I’ve become Emily’s photographer for life. I first photographed her for her boudoir session, a gift to her then fiancé on their wedding day. Then I photographed her for a Glam the Dress session, where she got to wear her wedding dress again with the goal of seeing how many non-bridal looks we could get using her dress and veil.
And now I present to you this latest session (Drum roll!): a step-mother/step-daughter contemporary glamour portrait session.
Ava is Emily’s 13-year-old step-daughter and just a sweet young lady. She was polite, bubbly, and a joy to photography. She and Emily seem to have a very close and loving relationship.
And you know we had to break out the tulle skirt, ’cause there isn’t anything much girlie than a tulle skirt.
Seriously. This is not how 13 looked when I was a kid.
I am not a family portrait photographer, but when I shoot a contemporary glamour session, I do invite the boyfriend/husband/sons to come during the last 30 minutes of a session so I can take a few shots with them incorporated in the portraits. It’s important men exist in photographs as well!
Why the last 30 minutes? So they aren’t sitting around B.O.A.R.D. Plus it’s fun to watch their eyes twinkle when they see their girlfriend/wife all glammed up. 🙂
I love their little family!
A big thank you to the talented Nath Mao for her hair/makeup skills for both Emily and Ava.
So! Looks like fun doesn’t it? Because it IS! Contact me today about existing in photographs WITH your children!
Until next time,
Shannon
Holy cow! What beautiful models Shannon. I looked like a dork and dressed like one too at thirteen! Of course it helps to have good subjects to begin with…I enjoy the black and white one’s too. The family shot is nice. That is smart of you to allow the significant other to show up during the last thirty minutes of their session. I know my husband would enjoy it all and would give him unsolicited remarks so it is good to only have thirty minutes with them. Bet this gentleman loved what you did for his “girls”….I say WOW! Great job Shannon!
Thank you! But I want to point out these ladies are not models, but everyday women. It’s important that distinction is made, because I don’t want anyone thinking of doing a session with me decide not to because they aren’t models, because the do not need to be models to own stunning portraits of themselves.
Always tasteful and always beautiful subjects.
