I always wanted to have a boudoir session done but never thought that I was good enough when it came to looks, so I kept postponing the opportunity. Since the minute that Shannon got in touch with me, before meeting her in person, she was amazing giving me the sense of confidence that I needed. When I arrived to the studio, the energy was great. She and her team were very welcoming. They really took the time to make me feel supported. For me, this was part of a healing process and I am grateful for Shannon and her team. To know that I had with me a talented team of women helping to achieve something that was “more than pictures”—it is priceless. Once the session started to roll, it was so much fun. It was so much fun that I didn’t had the time to worry about the outcome. Shannon definitely knows what she is doing but most importantly, she is passionate about it and the confidence that she has, she shares with you during the session. Telma’s session was originally scheduled for July 2020, but because of COVID-19 lockdown/slow reopenings, we rescheduled to March 2021, but then she had to reschedule that date to early July 2021… and then she had to reschedule to late July 2021… but then something came up for me so we had to reschedule again… and finally shot her session in November 2021! And I think it was worth the wait! I am thrilled with how her images came out.

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session?
I have been wanting to do a boudoir sessions for years but never felt comfortable enough to do it.
What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your photo shoot?
Looking at the gallery and reading the testimonials.

What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the image reveal?
Definitely the session. Shannon and her entire team made the whole experience simply amazing. They have such a great energy!
Did you leave your photo shoot worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
Not at all. I believe this is part of how confident they are when working on getting everything ready.

Did you leave your boudoir experience worried that the posing felt awkward?
No. I left the building actually feeling pretty amazing and feeling excited about the reveal.
What were you more nervous about—the session or the image reveal? Why?
The reveal. Because by then it is “too late” to fix something.

Did you arrive to the image reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?
No. Again, you can tell that Shannon is a professional and she knows what she is doing. She was pretty good at giving me instructions before and during the session.
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I was shocked for a few minutes. I just kept repeating, ” I can’t believe that is me!”

If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
I LOVE the pictures.
How did shooting this boudoir session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Absolutely feeling more confident. Even before seeing the pictures, I left that studio feeling really grateful. Feeling strong, worth it, and capable of achieving more than what I think I can. This experience was more than taking pictures for me—this was part of a healing process.

Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
Yes. Every time I see a picture of myself I tend to look for what looks ” wrong” or “ugly.” Shannon was such a good guide when it came to posing and lighting that when I see these pictures, I see beauty and nothing else.
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
Photogenic… not at all. I feel more confident now.
Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Yes, I was. I will go back to the fact that Shannon and her team have an amazing energy. since the minute she opened the door it was a very welcoming feeling. The way I see it is, I had three women with a beautiful heart, sharing stories, making me feel welcome, comfortable, and taking the time to get me ready to do something that was part of my bucket list. Priceless!!
